Dwayne Johnson & Benny Safdie Team Up for 'Lizard Music' Holiday 2027

Dwayne Johnson and filmmaker Benny Safdie are joining forces for Lizard Music, an adaptation of Daniel Pinkwater's novel that'll drop sometime around the holidays in 2027. Safdie wrote and will direct the film, which Amazon MGM is backing.

So here's the thing: Safdie's known for his tense, unhinged dramas—Good Time, Uncut Gems—so seeing him step into the world of Pinkwater's cult classic children's book is genuinely interesting. The author's got that surreal, offbeat energy that could actually vibe with Safdie's sensibilities if done right. Johnson flexing his acting range outside the action-hero lane? That's always a move worth watching.

It's a weird pairing on paper, but the indie-meets-blockbuster formula has worked before. Still almost three years out, so expect more casting and details to roll through. For now, this is one to keep on the radar.
