Eva Got Ryan's Back on That Ghost Rider Move

Ryan Gosling's getting the call to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Ghost Rider, and Eva Mendes just made it clear she's locked in. The announcement came down at San Diego Comic-Con, and instead of staying quiet about it, Mendes decided to publicly co-sign the casting.

It's a big swing for Gosling—moving from indie prestige to cape-and-explosion territory. Ghost Rider's a character with range though, dark and supernatural enough that you can see why he'd be interested. The role's got visual spectacle but also demands actual acting chops, which fits his whole vibe.

What's refreshing is seeing the people close to these actors actually engage with the work instead of posting some generic emoji or staying invisible. Mendes riding with her man on a major studio play says something about the decision-making happening behind closed doors.

This is a whole different lane for Gosling, so real ones will be watching to see if he brings that same intentionality that made Drive and La La Land pop to a character drenched in fire and rage.
