Gary Oldman, Barbie Producer & More Head to Toronto Film Fest's New Market

TIFF's launching a brand new marketplace this September, and they're bringing serious names.

Toronto Film Festival is spinning up something fresh: TIFF: The Market, their first-ever dedicated marketplace event, running September 10–16. They're stacking the speaker lineup with some real heavyweights.

Gary Oldman ("Slow Horses"), Robbie Brenner (the "Barbie" producer who knows how to move product), and director Curry Barker are all on deck. You're also getting "Obsession" star Inde Navarrette, legendary director Lee Chang-dong, and producers Christine Vachon and Pamela hitting the stage.

The move makes sense—festivals are all about connecting filmmakers, financiers, and distributors. TIFF's been a proving ground for years; now they're formalizing that space with its own event. Barbie's still riding its wave, so having Brenner there signals they're serious about reaching the people who actually get films made and financed. This ain't just panels and coffee—it's business.
