HYBE Americas Doubles Down on Latin Pop With New TRU Records Label

K-pop giant HYBE is banking on Latin America's sound—and they're bringing Alejandro Mejía to run the show.

HYBE Americas just launched TRU Records, a fresh Latin pop imprint designed to capture a piece of the region's explosive music market. Alejandro Mejía is taking the GM role, steering both the creative direction and business side of things.

This is a calculated move. Latin pop has been on a real run—streaming numbers don't lie, and the genre keeps pulling global attention. HYBE, already a heavyweight in K-pop and global artist development, is making it clear they're not staying in one lane. Bringing someone like Mejía in suggests they're serious about understanding the culture and the market, not just parachuting in with a checklist.

Santos Bravos are TRU's first official signing, which sets the tone early. What matters now is execution—whether HYBE can apply what they know about artist development and fanbase building to Latin music without making it feel corporate or colonial. The infrastructure is there. The question is whether they'll let the music breathe or try to apply a one-size-fits-all playbook.

This could be big, or it could be another label betting hard on a trend. Time will tell.
