IFPI Tells EU: Y'all Sleeping on AI Rules

The IFPI just put out the word in Brussels: Europe's gotta get serious about enforcing those AI Act rules coming in 2026, or the industry's gonna keep taking Ls.

This wasn't some quiet memo either. They dropped their updated 'Music in the EU' report specifically to hammer home the point—governments need to walk the walk, not just talk it. Meanwhile, the same message was landing on UK ears too, with industry heads making it clear that regulation without teeth ain't worth the paper it's printed on.

The core issue is real: AI tools are eating into artist revenue, jacking tracks without permission, and undercutting the whole ecosystem. Labels and creators have been sounding alarms for a minute now. Now the IFPI's essentially saying implement or else—get these rules on the books and actually enforce them.

It's a power play by the music establishment, yeah, but they got a point. Can't regulate something halfway.
