Jake T. Austin Left Out of 'Wizards of Waverly Place' Reboot
The original wizard is sitting this one out—and he's not happy about it.

Jake T. Austin just pulled back the curtain on some Hollywood politics, revealing he got benched from the Wizards of Waverly Place revival despite being ready to suit up. Dude said he was 100% down when they asked him back in 2020, but the people running the show had other plans.
"The powers that be decided to take the show in a different direction and my character wasn't part of the equation," he wrote on Instagram Stories. Cold way to find out you're not needed, especially when you came saying yes. The revival is moving forward without him, which tells you something about the creative vision they're chasing.
It's a reminder that nostalgia plays don't always want to bring everybody back—sometimes the money people decide they need a fresh angle, even if the original cast is willing and ready. Austin's frustration is real, and honestly, it's hard not to feel it with him. The fans probably wanted to see him back too.
