Jessica Rothe Sci-Fi Thriller 'Imposters' Locks U.S. Deal, Going Theatrical Early 2027
SXSW standout finds its home with Brainstorm Media.

Jessica Rothe's new sci-fi thriller Imposters is hitting theaters sooner than later. Brainstorm Media just picked up U.S. distribution rights to the film and is planning a theatrical run in early 2027—a solid vote of confidence for a debut feature from writer-director Caleb Phillips.
The film premiered at SXSW 2026 and has already been generating heat on the international circuit. Imposters reunites Rothe with co-stars Lena Dunham ("River"), Katja Herbers ("Russian Doll"), and John Turturro ("Severance"). Phillips wrote the script himself and comes into the feature game with some credibility—his short "Other Side of the Box" racked up festival wins, which usually signals a filmmaker with something to say.
Brainstorm doesn't typically pull triggers on unknowns without reason. The fact that they're committing to a theatrical release instead of a straight streaming move means they see legs here. And the international deals already locked in suggest the film's hitting on something people worldwide want to see. Early 2027 gives the film room to breathe and build word-of-mouth before bigger releases crowd the multiplex.
