KATSEYE Hit SNL With Four-Piece Squad, Two Members Sidelined

The HYBE-backed girl group made their late-night debut short-handed but still brought the energy.

KATSEYE rolled up to Saturday Night Live with a reduced roster — four out of six members performing while Manon Bannerman and Sophia Laforteza are on hiatus. That's the kind of thing that can either derail a moment or prove your group's got legs beyond a full lineup. Sounds like they went with option B.

The squad hit the stage with 'Animal' and 'Hootie Frutti,' which tells you something about their range: one sounds like a straight-up pop track, the other's got a more playful vibe. SNL's a big platform, especially for a group trying to establish themselves in the States. KATSEYE's still building momentum in that "who's this new K-pop act?" phase, so nailing a network TV moment matters.

Two members down isn't ideal optics-wise, but if they made it work, that's the kind of performance that sticks with people. The hiatus reportedly ain't beef — these things happen in the idol system. Still, it'll be interesting to see if KATSEYE can keep the momentum rolling when they're back to full strength.
