King Gizzard Goes Full Mad Scientist on 'Alien Metal'

The Australian psych legends just dropped their wildest electronic experiment yet.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard ain't slowing down. On their 28th studio album Alien Metal, the Melbourne crew abandoned the guitar-forward blueprint they've built their whole career on and dove headfirst into hard dance and electronic territory. And based on what they're pulling off, it sounds like they're having the time of their lives doing it.

This ain't some half-baked side quest either. From everything we're hearing, Alien Metal is Gizzard operating at peak ambition — the kind of move that could've easily backfired if these cats didn't have the chops and the vision to pull it off. They built a sound that's genuinely theirs within the electronic space, not just copying what's already out there.

It's the kind of left-turn that separates bands willing to take real risks from the ones just going through the motions. King Gizzard has never been afraid to zig when the world expects them to zag, and Alien Metal proves they're still hungry to push themselves further.
