Kobalt Vet Simon Dennett Joins Rights-Matching Platform Spanish Point

A music tech veteran is stepping into a key role at a platform that's quietly reshaping how royalties get tracked across borders.

Simon Dennett, who spent years at Kobalt building out music rights infrastructure, is now Chief Product Officer at Spanish Point—the company behind Matching Engine, a platform that helps collective management organizations (CMOs) keep track of who owns what.

Matching Engine is already operating across 13 countries in Europe and North America, working with major CMOs like IMRO, SOCAN, TONO, and KODA. Basically, it's solving one of music's persistent headaches: making sure rights data actually syncs up so artists and songwriters get paid correctly, even when their catalog gets complicated.

Dennett's arrival signals Spanish Point is serious about scaling. The company's tackling infrastructure—unglamorous work, but the kind that matters when you're trying to fix broken money trails in the music industry. Matching Engine isn't a headline-grabber like a new streaming service or artist signing, but it's the plumbing that needs to work for everyone else to get paid fair.
