Korean Studio Remakes 'The Intern' With Choi Min-sik & Han So-hee

Warner Bros Korea is bringing the workplace comedy to Seoul this fall with two heavyweight actors.

Korea's taking another swing at remaking a Hollywood hit. Warner Bros Korea just locked in a September 16 drop for their version of The Intern, the 2015 comedy that had Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway trading jokes in a Manhattan office.

Choi Min-sik and Han So-hee are stepping into those roles for the Korean adaptation. Choi's got that heavyweight credibility — Oldboy, The Admiral: Roaring Currents, and plenty of other serious work under his belt. Han So-hee's been making moves too, building a solid resume across film and TV.

It's the kind of play studios keep making: take a proven formula, swap in local stars, and see if the chemistry hits different in another market. Whether it lands or feels like a carbon copy? That's the real question. The original worked because of the charm between De Niro and Hathaway's characters — that generational thing, that banter. Can they capture that energy with a different cast and culture? We'll find out soon enough.
