Malcolm McDowell & James Paxton's Western Comedy 'Last Train to Fortune' Hitting Theaters This Fall

A new western comedy is rolling into theaters with some serious star power on board.

TriCoast Worldwide and Vitagraph Films are bringing Adam Rifkin's Last Train to Fortune to the big screen this September. The film stars Malcolm McDowell and James Paxton in what's being positioned as a western comedy — a genre that doesn't get a ton of theatrical love these days, so the fact that this one's getting a real rollout is worth paying attention to.

The movie hits New York on September 18, Dallas on September 23, and LA on September 25, with plans to expand wider after that initial push. Brad Wyman produced the project.

Western comedies live or die on chemistry and timing. With McDowell's veteran chops and Paxton in the mix, there's potential here — but the proof is always in the execution. This one's banking on finding an audience in select markets first before deciding how far to take it. That's the move when you're not sure how the general public is gonna vibe with your swing.
