Marvel's Endgame Encore Runs the U.K. Box Office

Disney flexes with a re-release that came to dominate the British charts.

Disney just reminded everyone why the MCU moves numbers, even on a second run. Avengers: Endgame Encore opened first across the U.K. and Ireland with £4.1 million ($5.5 million) in its debut frame—solid proof that nostalgia and big IP still pull crowds when they're positioned right.

That muscle pushed Sony's Resident Evil down to number two in its second weekend, though the action franchise held decent with $3 million and a $11.6 million cumulative. Paramount's Heart of the Beast also couldn't dent the armor.

It's the kind of move studios have been testing more: re-releasing catalog titles to squeeze extra revenue without the risk of a full theatrical release. Works different in the U.K. market than stateside, but when you're talking Marvel, the brand carries. The encore proves Endgame's reach never really left—just needed the right moment to remind people.
