Netflix Claps Back at Tyra Banks Over ANTM Doc Lawsuit

Tyra's got a problem with how Netflix told her show's story — but Netflix says she invented the playbook.

Tyra Banks is suing Netflix over their America's Next Top Model docuseries, claiming defamation. Netflix just filed their response, and they're not backing down. The streamer's argument is sharp: Tyra built her empire on exactly the kind of editorial choices she's now attacking the doc for making.

Netflix says Banks understands the game better than anybody. She created ANTM, hosted it, executive produced 24 seasons — that means she spent two decades deciding what footage made the cut, what got left on the floor, and how to frame competing stories. You can't do that level of gatekeeping for nearly a quarter-century and then act shocked when someone else does it.

It's a solid legal play: pointing out that the woman who built her brand on controlling the narrative now wants damages because she didn't like this narrative. Whether the courts buy it depends on what's actually in the doc and whether Netflix crossed lines Tyra herself wouldn't have.

This one's far from over, but Netflix just showed they're treating this seriously and not folding.
