Netflix Cuts Deep in U.K. Office, Boots Out Major TV Exec
Anna Mallett, who ran BBC Studios, is out as Netflix tightens its belt across the pond.

Netflix is swinging the axe again—this time in its U.K. operations, where they're trimming roughly 2–3 percent of the office. The casualty list includes Anna Mallett, a VP of production who came over from the legacy TV world with serious credentials. Before Netflix, she was running things at BBC Studios and had led ITN, so she wasn't some random hire.
Mallett joined the streamer's London office back in November 2020, positioned to help Netflix build out its European production slate. That was three years of service, and now she's gone as the company keeps cutting corners after a rough 2022.
It's the same story we've seen play out across Netflix these past months—the growth-at-all-costs era is over, and the streaming giant is cleaning house. Losing someone with her experience in traditional broadcast suggests Netflix is reshaping how it builds content overseas, and not necessarily for the better. When you're losing exec-level talent who know how to actually make television, something's shifting in how they want to operate.
