Oscar-Nominated Editor Elliot Graham Dead at 50
The filmmaker who shaped some of cinema's biggest moments is gone.

Elliot Graham, the Oscar-nominated editor behind Gus Van Sant's Milk, has passed away at 50. Graham was one of those invisible architects of modern film—the kind of talent whose fingerprints are all over projects you love but whose name doesn't make the headlines.
Beyond Milk, his work cut across genres and scale. He edited Danny Boyle's Steve Jobs, brought precision to the Marvel machine with Captain Marvel, and shaped the final James Bond film, No Time to Die. That range alone tells you he wasn't a one-note operator. He knew how to build tension, structure emotion, and pace a story whether it was intimate biography or sprawling blockbuster.
The editing bay is where films actually get made, and Graham was a master of that invisible craft. He won an Academy Award nomination for Milk—a film that mattered beyond just cinema. His loss hits different because editors like him don't get their flowers while they're here the way actors and directors do.
Hollywood lost a craftsman. The industry moves on, but the cut matters, and Graham knew how to cut.
