Outkast Takes Ovrkast to Court After Name-Change Promise Falls Through
When a handshake deal on a stage name gets broken, the lawyers get involved.

Outkast ain't playing around. The legendary Atlanta duo filed suit against rapper and producer Ovrkast over trademark infringement, and the backstory here is wild—dude literally admitted in Rolling Stone last year that people constantly mix up the two names. That's the problem right there.
According to Outkast's trademark management, Ovrkast said he'd rebrand by July. Deadline came and went. No new name. No apology. Just radio silence while keeping the one that's got people confused.
This is textbook IP beef—it's not like Outkast woke up mad for no reason. The confusion is real and documented. Ovrkast acknowledged it himself on record. When you admit the mistake and promise to fix it, then ghost on the agreement, you're basically asking for legal action.
How this resolves depends on what's in writing, but the optics ain't great for Ovrkast right now. In this space, your word is supposed to mean something.
