Red Lobster Worker Calls Out Customer's Mid-Order Phone Etiquette

Taking a call while ordering? That's not the move, apparently.

A South Carolina server just had to air out what went down when a customer rolled up to Red Lobster with zero chill. The woman ordered, asked for jumbo shrimp in her shrimp scampi, then—mid-transaction—picked up her phone and took a call like the server wasn't even standing there.

The worker didn't hold back. "Not cute," they said. And honestly? Hard to argue. If you're ordering food, especially at a sit-down spot, that's the five minutes where you put the phone down and handle business face-to-face. It's basic respect for the person literally taking your order.

This kind of thing happens every day in restaurants across the country, but it's wild how much of a flashpoint it's become. Maybe it's just a reminder that we all got caught slipping somewhere with our phones—but if you're ordering seafood scampi, at least give the server your full attention for 60 seconds. That's all it takes.
