Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman Remind Us Why 'Practical Magic' Still Hits Different

The witch sisters showed up to bless an LA screening of the '98 classic—and yeah, the sequel's coming soon.

The Occult Never Goes Out of Style

Saturday night at Cinespia, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman pulled up to a screening of Practical Magic like it was opening weekend all over again. The two stars, who carried that 1998 film on their backs, brought the energy to a room full of people who probably grew up rewatching it on cable.

It's smart promo work, but also—let's be real—it's a reminder that some movies just have legs. Practical Magic has aged way better than most late-90s supernatural flicks. The chemistry between Bullock and Kidman feels timeless, the family curse storyline still hits, and there's something about a movie that actually lets women be complicated and funny and dark all at once.

With Practical Magic 2 set to land in September, this appearance does what it's supposed to do: tap into the goodwill of the original and get people hyped for what's next. Whether the sequel can match the original's vibe is another question—but at least they're not pretending the first film doesn't exist.

The witch energy is real out here.
