Sheri Herman, E! Entertainment Pioneer, Dead at 71

Sheri Herman, one of the architects of cable and digital entertainment media, died August 6th from heart failure. She was 71.

Herman's fingerprints are all over the infrastructure of modern pop culture coverage. Starting in Philadelphia before heading to Madison Avenue, she worked her way up through commercial production before landing at The Entertainment Channel—and later helping build E! Entertainment into the machine it became. In an industry that wasn't exactly handing women the keys to the kingdom back then, Herman moved through roles that shaped how celebrity, gossip, and entertainment news got packaged and delivered to millions.

That's not small. E! didn't just report on pop culture—it became part of the culture. Herman was there grinding in those early days when cable was still figuring itself out, when digital media was just a dream, and when nobody knew what the future looked like.

The entertainment industry moves fast and doesn't always stop to remember the people who built the foundation. Herman deserves better than that. She was a builder and a believer in the space, and her work outlived her.
