SNL UK Taps Rising Comedian Freddie Meredith for Season 2
The British sketch show keeps building its bench with fresh talent.
SNL UK is adding comedian and actor Freddie Meredith to the cast for season two. Meredith's been moving fast—he just wrapped his Edinburgh Fringe debut with Need a Light?, which got nominated for a Best Newcomer Award. That's the kind of cosign that gets you on a sketch show's radar.
Meredith's got acting credits too, including spots on Such Brave Girls and Big Boys. So he's got that dual skill set—can he make you laugh one-on-one, and can he hold it down in an ensemble? That's what the SNL UK team is betting on.
The move signals the show's still serious about finding UK comedians who can carry sketches and bring something real to the format. Meredith's traction at Edinburgh suggests he's got the chops to earn a spot in a rotating cast rather than just slide in as filler.
