SNL's Back with a New Look — Here's What Changed for Season 52
Saturday Night Live is keeping it mostly the same, but there's enough new energy to matter.

The longest-running sketch show in America is back for round 52, and NBC isn't trying to reinvent the wheel. SNL's returning Sept. 26 with a relatively light refresh — the kind of update that says we know what works, but yeah, we heard you.
Jalen Brunson, the Knicks point guard, is hosting the premiere, which already signals where comedy and sports culture are intersecting these days. The show's been through enough cycles to know when a full overhaul flops and when subtle tweaks keep things fresh without losing the format that's kept it alive since the '70s.
It's the move of a show confident enough to not chase trends but smart enough to adjust. SNL's always been about the cast, the writers, and whoever's in Studio 8H on Saturday night — and that hasn't changed. The real question isn't what's different on set. It's whether this season's got the chops to stay relevant when sketch comedy's competing with TikTok clips and YouTube for attention.
