Ticketmaster's App Upgrade Is Trying to Act Like Dice Now
The ticket giant is finally learning what indie platforms figured out years ago.

Ticketmaster dropped a mobile app update across 21 countries and it's basically saying: 'Yeah, we see what Dice has been doing.' The refresh is all about making the experience less clunky — better recommendations, a watchlist to keep track of shows you're actually interested in, and more personalization overall.
It's a move that shouldn't be surprising but somehow still is. For years, Ticketmaster's app felt like a utility you tolerated, not something you wanted to use. Dice and other scrappier platforms built their whole thing around making discovery feel natural, like scrolling through a feed of events curated for you instead of swimming through a sea of noise.
Now the major player is catching up. Whether this actually makes fans trust Ticketmaster more — given all the heat they've caught over fees, crashes, and monopoly-style control — is another question. A better app experience doesn't erase structural problems. But at least they're listening to what works somewhere else in the space.
