WGA Throws Down on Ellison's California Exit Threat
David Ellison's leverage play against California just backfired with the writers.
Paramount Skydance's David Ellison tried to flex on California's Attorney General, threatening to relocate the studio out of state if they didn't cave on the antitrust lawsuit blocking the Warner Bros. deal. Classic power move — except the WGA wasn't having it.
The writers' union clapped back hard, saying Ellison's intimidation tactic is exactly the kind of behavior that proves the merger shouldn't happen in the first place. They're right: threatening to abandon your home state because regulators won't let you consolidate more power? That's not negotiation. That's coercion dressed up in a suit.
