Bill Simmons got caught breaking the books, and instead of dodging it, he just... told everybody about it on his podcast. FanDuel confirmed the bets violated their terms, and they already filed a report with Massachusetts gaming authorities. Simmons went on air to say he messed up and won't do it again.

Proxy betting—having someone else place bets in your name—is a no-go in regulated sportsbooks for a reason. It defeats the whole compliance system that keeps these platforms legit. The fact that Simmons admitted to it himself and Fanduel self-reported shows how serious they're taking the integrity angle, even when it's a high-profile name.

This is the kind of thing that makes you wonder how many other people were doing the same thing without confessing. Simmons taking the L publicly might've been the smarter move than letting it simmer, but it's still a reminder that even in the sports media universe, the rules apply to everybody—no exceptions.
