HBO's 'Harry Potter' Series Adds James, Lily & Charlie to the Roster
The new Potter universe is getting its cast locked in, and we're seeing faces we've been waiting to put on screen.
HBO's adapting the Harry Potter books into a full series, and the casting keeps rolling. They just locked in three names: Harry Gilby as Charlie Weasley, Jasper Talbot as James Potter, and Hannah Chinn as Lily Potter. All three are hitting Season 1, which is pegged as Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
This is a big move—James and Lily Potter have only existed in memory and flashback in the original films. Seeing them come to life as full characters? That's new territory for the franchise. Charlie Weasley's getting his screen debut too, which means HBO is committing to the deeper cuts of the Weasley family tree.
The casting keeps the momentum going on what's shaping up to be a serious reimagining of the whole saga. Whether this lands depends on how they balance honoring what fans already know with actually giving themselves room to do something different. The next move is watching how these actors vibe with whoever's playing young Harry.
