Kool DJ Red Alert Signs Off: 40 Years of Radio Heat Done
A legend puts down the mic after four decades of holding it down.

Kool DJ Red Alert is stepping away from radio after 40 years of doing the damn thing. That's not just a long time in the booth — that's a legacy.
Red Alert was the voice for the culture when it mattered most. He broke records, championed artists, and kept hip-hop alive on the airwaves when the industry was still figuring out what it was. From the early days through all the shifts and changes in radio, he stayed true to the music and the people who made it.
40 years is real time. Not many people do anything for that long at the highest level and mean it the whole way through. Red Alert meant it.
This is the end of an era, straight up. The booth won't sound the same, but the work he put in echoes forever. That's how you leave your mark.
