Jordan Firstman Lands Lead Voice Role in Cannes Darling 'Jim Queen'

The Club Kid director's next move: steering an animated comedy that already got the festival circuit buzzing.

Jordan Firstman is moving fast. Fresh off his directorial debut "Club Kid" — which A24 just scooped up for a November release — he's now the lead voice in "Jim Queen," an animated comedy that premiered at Cannes and left critics grinning.

Directed by Marco Nguyen and Nicolas Athané, "Jim Queen" landed solid reviews out of the festival. Variety's Guy Lodge called it hilarious, which is the kind of early word that matters when you're betting on an indie animated joint.

Firstman's climb from filmmaker to voice lead shows the kind of heat building around him right now. "Club Kid" rode into Sundance earlier this year with real momentum, and A24 betting on it for a fall release says everything about where industry heads are at with his work.

The exclusive first clip dropped with Variety's report. It's the kind of move that keeps eyes on what's next — both for Firstman's directorial pipeline and for "Jim Queen" as it gears up for wider release.
