the Lürxx Made a Rock Album With Zero Filter — On Purpose

Two GenX punks, no autotune, no retirement plan, and a whole album about rewilding your soul

Two 13-Year-Olds and a Beatles Record

In 1990, one kid handed another kid a Beatles record. Xavi and Sunny were both 13. That's where it started — not a label, not a studio, just two teenagers who found something to hold onto in a broken youth. They imagined themselves on the beer-stained stage of the Star Club in Hamburg. They dug into blues, hard rock, punk, metal. And every time they loved something, they turned that love into songs of their own.

They'll tell you straight: making art kept them from sliding too far into addiction and a self-destructive outlook. "The desire to create quite literally saved our lives." That's not a marketing line. That's the whole foundation this band stands on.

Thirty-plus years later, they're still at it as the Lürxx — a vegan GenX duo (twins in spirit, not a couple, for the record) playing what they call Nature Warrior Glam Punk Grunge. Environmental science, 70s hard rock, and the punkier side of grunge, all in a blender. Weird? Yeah. On purpose.

"Exile from Mainstream" — Handmade, Unfiltered, No Apologies

The new album dropped September 1, 2026. Ten songs. It's the follow-up to their 2025 EP Palm Trees Oh Yeah!, which was mixed and mastered by their friend James Michael (Sixx:A.M.). James still works with them behind the scenes as their mixing guru — and with that support, they handled the entire production of Exile themselves.

That DIY choice wasn't about saving money. It was a statement. They wanted a hand-made rock album with 100% natural, untreated, signature vocals. No polish. No smoothing. No treated, glossy, sounds-like-everything-else production.

"All this overly polished stuff you hear all over the place is super boring to us," they say. And you can hear it — passionate lead guitars, atmospheric recorders, melodic bass lines, rhythms that get intricate without showing off. Anger and hope sitting side by side. Groovy psychedelic rock next to actual poetry.

They call it rewilding music. Songs built to reconnect you to nature and to your own wild self. No clear-cut studio invoice for this one — just many hundreds of hours poured in by hand.

The Cost Nobody Puts on a Receipt

Ask them what they had to overcome to keep making music and they get genuinely stumped. Music just comes out of them. Art isn't a hobby they had to fight for — it's the air.

What they did fight through was years of intense poverty. And the acceptance that they'll never save for retirement. Their answer to that? "There won't be any retirement, hahaha." They've built a life outside the usual societal framework — meaningful work they own, on their own terms — and honestly, they're comfortable out there. Rejecting the system came easy to them.

That's the energy inside the record. It's why listeners keep telling them the same thing: the music leaves you inspired. Soothing and joyful on one side, carrying a fighting energy on the other — the kind that helps you pick up the courage to fight for a better world.

That's exactly the point. If you're carrying a heavy load, this is meant to lift it. And it's meant to remind you you're not alone — that there's a whole community of people trying to overthrow toxic systems and build something better.

What's Next

A Halloween EP called "Mold" is on the way — four more tracks pulled from the Exile sessions. Right after that, they're straight into recording the first songs for the next album. But don't hold your breath for a rush job: "We don't produce fast food music." That record won't land before next summer.

Meanwhile they're gigging around the UK — Petersfield, Gallery 30 on Oct 16 and Southampton on Nov 13. They played hard all summer, so they're taking it a touch easier while they work new songs into the live set.
